We are 2 blocks north of Center on MLK Drive. By the old Ponderosa on the east side of the road.
History of Juneteenth
Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. Note that this was two and a half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation – which had become official January 1, 1863.
As Republicans we proudly celebrate the freedom Juneteenth represents.

Threats to Our Freedom, Right Here at Home
Our liberty and freedom are under attack. Threats continue to come from overseas, but we are increasingly seeing dangers coming from within our own borders. Socialists, communists, anarchists sharia law, and the shadow of home grown Islamic jihad all aim to harm us in our own backyards.
The Midwest Security Conference will feature discussion on the current state of national security, what we should be watching, how to communicate this threat to others, and how we can demand action from public officials at all levels of government.
The event is designed to inform and create action.
