The Far Left Is Driving a Possible Blue Tsunami

The presidential election of 1948 has rightly become a textbook case of malpractice by political pollsters. That year, the policies of the Truman administration split the old Roosevelt Coalition — and with it, the Democratic Party — three ways: Desegregation of the armed forces drove the Dixiecrats to nominate Strom Thurmond; confrontation with the Communists drove the Progressives to run former vice president Henry Wallace; and Truman headed the rump of the party.

The pollsters predicted a narrow win for Republican Thomas Dewey. They were wrong.

How to Exterminate Little Platoons

Book: The Intimidation Game: How the Left Is Silencing Free Speech by Kimberley Strassel

Most Americans agree that police should not be able to raid citizens’ homes at dawn without notice and seize their personal records and computers at gunpoint, in order to scrutinize their political activities. That’s what police did in Wisconsin in 2015 to a wide range of private citizens who’d opposed the recall of Governor Scott Walker, in the infamous “John Doe” investigations—which included a shocking “gag order” threatening those citizens with legal punishment even for revealing that their homes had been raided.

Nor should private citizens who support a political cause have their names exposed, so that they can be harassed, boycotted, and fired. That is what happened to Brendan Eich, cofounder of Mozilla, for a years-old contribution in defense of traditional marriage.

Guilt Trip

It has become increasingly clear that the left’s ever-more-bizarre agenda for America – from passing laws prescribing imprisonment for those who fail to use the correct transgender pronoun (out of over 50 new genders!), to importing into the U.S. as many migrants as possible from impossible-to-vet, terrorist-hotbed regions of the world, to demonizing centuries of American history and destroying statues of the nation’s founders – is simply insane. Not “progressive,” not “radical.” Insane.

Stop Lying To Us

The most significant revelation that came out of the most recent London massacre of disarmed British subjects was not the bloodshed itself, but the pathetic sissy whining, in the midst of throats being slashed, at the Brit who refused to adhere to the comforting lie that the Muslims doing the slashing in the name of Allah were not Muslims doing the slashing in the name of Allah.

The left would rather you lie and die than tell the truth and live.

I Will Not Be Intimidated

As a young boy I was shot by a man whose clear intent was to kill me as I had deliberately, by throwing broken bricks at him, interrupted his attempt to rape a young teen-aged girl, allowing her to escape. To this day I can still see the evil in his face and the sun glistening off the barrel of the pistol he aimed in my direction. As I turned and began to run away he fired hitting me in back. The bullet entering my chest felt as if someone had hit me with baseball bat followed immediately by an excruciating burning sensation as I fell to the ground from the impact. Perhaps it was the adrenaline, but I was able scramble to my feet and run as far as I could until finally passing out from the shock and loss of blood. Fortunately, someone came to my rescue and took me to a military hospital and the first step on my journey to the United States.

Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité: 225 Years of an Unchanging Left

The same goals, since the French Revolution.

Plus ça change, say the French, plus c’est la même chose. The more things change, the more they stay the same. This is certainly true of revolutionary rhetoric: 225 years after the French Revolution, the demands of the Left can still be summed up in the three words of the Jacobin slogan — liberté, égalité, fraternité. Not only do those words sum up the Left, they provide a vivid contrast between the values of a civil society based on biblical morality and the Left’s skewed views.

Liberté: Thomas Jefferson saw “liberty” as one of the fundamental, natural-law rights of man, enshrined alongside “life” and the “pursuit of happiness” in the American Declaration of Independence. The Constitution was later designed to preserve and protect natural rights.

Yet “liberty” does not mean freedom from discipline or restraint. John Adams declared of the American Constitution that it was fit only for a “moral and religious people.”

The left’s relentless war against Bannon, Breitbart and real journalism

Since Trump’s election, I have been indulging in watching the YouTube videos of the mainstream media’s hysterical erroneous predictions for Hillary’s ascendance to the WH. I also came across numerous critiques for Trump’s transition team, in particular his choice of Steve Bannon as chief strategist.

Bannon has been accused of anti-Semitism, white supremacy and misogynism based on the articles published on Breitbart when he was its executive chair. After watching CNN’s Don Lemon interview with Brietbart’s Joel Pollack, I finally understood why the left is obsessed with Bannon and Breitbart. They haven’t a clue about what real journalism is.

The collapse of the political left

It’s been a tough decade for the political left. Eight years ago a Time magazine cover portrayed Barack Obama as Franklin Roosevelt, complete with cigarette and holder and a cover line proclaiming “The New New Deal.” A Newsweek cover announced “We Are All Socialists Now.”

Now the cover story is different. Time has just announced, inevitably though a bit begrudgingly, that its Person of the Year for 2016 is Donald Trump. No mention of New Deals or socialism.
