All of which naturally made us interested in taking a closer look at the man and his ideas. These Are The Celebrities Who Vowed To Leave America If Trump Wins

Used to dramatic theatrics even if many of them sounded dead serious, dozens of celebs vowed over the last few months to depart the US if Donald Trump won the White House, saying they’d buy a one way ticket to everywhere from Canada to Jupiter. And perhaps some of them planned on carrying through on their threat: overnight Canada’s immigration website crashed from heavy traffic after it became clear that Trump would win.

The question, however, now is how many of these provocateurs will be true to their word, especially in a world in which long-held conventions just got slammed overnight: how many of these so-called starts will make good on their promise?

President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s farewell address, known for its warnings about the growing power of the “military-industrial complex,” was nearly two years in the making. This Inside the Vaults video short follows newly discovered papers revealing that Eisenhower was deeply involved in crafting the speech, which was to become one of the most famous in American history. The papers were discovered by the family of Eisenhower speechwriter Malcolm Moos and donated to the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum. Eisenhower Library director Karl Weissenbach and presidential historian and Foundation for the National Archives board member Michael Beschloss discuss the evolution of the speech.

donald-trump-thumbs-upIn a keynote speech in Gettysburg, Pa., about his plans for his first 100 days in office, Donald Trump laid out what he sees as the the core priorities of a Trump presidency, while focusing in the early part of the speech on attacks against Hillary Clinton and Wall Street, and repeating his core message by telling his audience that Washington and Wall Street are “rigged” against him and that he is the candidate to bring “the change that has to come.”

–SNIP–In terms of actual political measures that Trump would propose and/or enact, he listed the following six:

1. “A Constitutional Amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress.”
2. “A hiring freeze on all federal employees.”
3. “A requirement that for every new federal regulation, 2 existing regulations must be eliminated.”
4. “A 5-year ban on White House and Congressional officials becoming lobbyists after they leave government.”
5. “A lifetime ban on White House officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government.”
6. “A complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for American elections.”
